Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was born in Dudley in the West Midlands. He completed an MA in Documentary Photography at Newport (University of Wales) and has since embarked on both commissioned and personal works that have focussed on observing notions of the commonplace and the everyday.

Sometimes captured through re-framing the figure or confining itself to detail, intrinsic to his observation, is a desire to examine the inherent paradoxes found within the collisions, transactions and dislocations that reveal themselves within the built environment.

They are works that seek to examine our emotional responses both to the spaces that surround us but also to the emotional spaces that exist between ourselves and others.

These observations utilise the ‘realism’ of documentary photography and film making and increasingly the supporting use of fictionalised texts and sound recording.

Published widely, his photographs are held in both private and national collections.
