Debbie Sharp
Debbie Sharp is a Manchester based artist and performer who predominately works in photography. Debbie’s work is usually personal and a reflection of her life and the world around her. She has recently been developing an interest in sound art and using photography in a more installation way, creating physical spaces for the viewer. She is currently studying MA Photography at The Art School, Manchester Metropolitan University. Since October 2009 she has been director and co-curator of Kraak Gallery in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.
For Look 2011 Debbie will showing her work Containment, working with images and text with the possible addition of sound. The work will be shown in a shipping container creating a physical space. The issues the work deals with are domestic violence and the overwhelming feeling of being trapped in the space where the abuse is happening. By placing the viewer in a physical space she hopes to create this feeling.
