Mark Loudon

Originally from Belfast, Mark has been working in Liverpool for about 25 years, and taking pictures for most of that time. HisĀ  background is in the performing arts as a technician, production manager for theatre companies, dance companies and tent man and cook for circuses. While working for LJMU’s dance department he developed his photography to a point where he left to go freelance as a photographer in 2006. Since then he has worked in various aspects of photography, covering all the Liverpool Lantern Companies work for example, and the award winning Irish carnival company Luxe, as well as portrait work and his own long term projects. Mark set up the Everton Photography Studio last year with the brilliant young scouse photojournalist Christian Petersen. The idea was to take a portrait of a community, both in the studio and out and about, thematically focussing on the family, but also supporting local artistic work by documenting it, and offering training opportunities for local young people. The project was always conceived of as a long term one, and one year in they are showing some family group portraits in the exhibition ‘Families’.
