Lens caps off. Browsers ready. Look11 is now live and interactive! So there is no need to wait until 2011 to get involved. Our user led website is all inclusive and interactive, passing ownership to you the audience through international blogs and forums, where we want to give you the freedom to communicate what you’re passionate about in the creative sector, around photography and about social justice issues.
Look11 is also inclusive of our own facebook, twitter and flikr pages, so that you can discuss, debate, challenge, tweet, post and poke until your heart’s content.
You can even upload your own photographs, with the opportunity to have your work featured on our website. Watch this space for more details.
Keep up to date with how the festival is developing and be first to sign up to attend our workshops, conferences, photography fairs and artist talks. See our ‘what’s on’ for more details.
As we approach the second decade of the 21st century, photography continues to be deployed to bear witness and to make the case for change. In various guises, from ‘concerned’ reportage and social documentary to activist networks and citizen journalism, photographers, artists and campaigners give photography a central place in their calls to action.
Go on, pick up a camera! It really has never been easier, and you too can ‘have something to say’ and be a part of Look11’s progressive drive for photography.
With an array of projects and competitions brewing for 2011, we want everyone from the mobile snapper, to the serious shooter, to respond to our ‘call to action’ theme by taking photographs! Watch this space for more details, and keep an eye on the ‘competition’ section of our homepage.
The theme for look11 is ‘A Call to Action?’ and focusing on all different aspects of social justice from the environment to community cohesion through to local policy and international conflict. Look11 is an inclusive festival and you don’t have to be a professional photographer to enjoy the wide range of events that will be taking place. There will be different routes around the festival too so if your group is planning on a visit get in touch with the festival team to find out how to make the most of a ‘group visit’.
Who doesn’t love a party? Every month, Look11 will be hosting a ‘Seven11’ event, where you are invited to party with photographers, designers, the festival team and friends for nights of music, live bands, photo-slamming, competitions, showcase, networking and more. For photographers, enthusiasts and photo-voyeurs alike, come along and find out about the festival, opportunities to get involved and showcasing your work at future events. The nights will usually be the middle of the month from 7pm to 11pm. Oh go on, it’s officially party season!
Look11 is always on the look-out for talented and dedicated volunteers, and we have plenty of opportunities coming up in the next few months, from event stewarding to arts management.
