A SENSE OF PERSPESPECTIVE- TATE LIVERPOOL

A Sense of Perspective

Explore the in-between and the undefined in our brand new collection display A Sense of Perspective. Exhibiting the works of international contemporary artists from the Tate Collection, this display focuses on works which highlight cultural, generational and artistic difference. A Sense of Perspective challenges our tendency to define and limit our understanding, and includes varied work ranging from installations, sculptures, video works and photography.

Watch images momentarily take shape and disappear in Rosângela Renno’s enigmatic installation Experiencing Cinema, which is shown for the first time in the UK since its acquisition by Tate. Zineb Sedira’s poignant video work Mother Tongue investigates the impact of migration on cultural identity, whilst Sarah Jones’ thought-provoking large scale photographs capture the “between-ness” of young women’s identities, influenced by class, age and social conditioning.

The display has been curated by Young Tate as part of a European partnership project with three other leading European galleries. The Young Tate curators have simultaneously explored their own identities and the Tate Collection, assisted by their counterparts from Kiasma (Helsinki), le Centre Pompidou (Paris) and Tate Britain (London).
