Gemma Thorpe

Gemma Thorpe is a freelance photographer specialising in social documentary/reportage. She completed an MA in International Photojournalism and Documentary Photography in 2007 in China, where she lived for 2 years. She has published work in the UK, Spain and Germany, and exhibited in China at the National Art Museum in Beijing, and Pingyao International Photo Festival.

Part of the Redeye Lightbox ‘Control’ group, her work for Look11 is a series exploring two young peoples’ experiences of homelessness in the UK; a life in limbo as they seek independence. The work aims at highlighting the complexities surrounding adulthood and the right to a safe place to live.
