Michael Sheerin
Michael Sheerin is photographer from Liverpool. He studied at the University of Chester and has a BA Hons in Photography and Multimedia Studies. His work background in photography is portraiture and Fine Art based and he has exhibited work at The Cube in Manchester, The Grundy Gallery in Blackpool, Liverpool One and Chester. The series of images ‘Final Cut’ documents one of Liverpool’s last independent picture houses. The Plaza Community Cinema in Waterloo has a day-to-day struggle to compete with multi screen complexes. Only Two Independent cinemas remain in Liverpool, the other being Woolton Picture House. Some still remain, many are listed buildings that have been left to rot and go into disrepair, eventually to be bulldozed for redevelopment or a car park, consigned to a distant memory.
