  • Look11 Threshold and Seven11 Event

    30th January 2011

Following on from the success of our first Seven11 event in December, we are all busy getting ready for our next event, which we hope is going to be bigger and better than the first one. It was great to be able to start putting some faces to names and chatting with people about their interests and experiences at our first Seven11. So we hope to do more of that this time. The event is taking place on Saturday 12th February, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., as part of the Threshold Festival being held at Liverpool Contemporary Urban Centre.

The first part of the day will focus on the Look11 Live Media Centre, which is basically an interactive hub, providing an opportunity for photographers to showcase their work, either in printed form or through a projector, and to give informal forum talks about their work or some aspect of photography. There will also be some surprise activities for everyone to join in and get creative. With a theme of weird and wonderful, people are bound to find something to catch their attention. Seven11, Look11’s monthly evening happening will then follow from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with music and further networking opportunities.

This really is a great chance for photographers to get their work shown or talk about what they’ve been doing in an informal and fun setting. Photographers shouldn’t feel that their work has to be perfectly polished to get shown. The benefit of these events is that they provide an open platform for photographers to present their work and exchange ideas. All we ask is that images relate to the theme of social justice or the theme of the particular event. It’s really exciting for us at Look11 to find out about the different ways that people are engaging with photography, and seeing as spaces are limited within the ‘official’ Look11 programme, it feels great to be able to offer photographers this opportunity to show and talk about their work. The images and ideas that have been submitted for our programme at Threshold are great and we’re looking forward to seeing how people will engage.

So please do come along and get involved.
